
Silvagama as an organization of nature lovers, who has a red line in nature lovers activity based on adventure. Many outdoor activity which has been done with variety of purposes, such as skill improvement and new place exploration. Because of supporting skill improvement that members must have is needed, a curriculum is arranged to be a control to ensure the capacity of silvagama members. Beside making the curriculum as the “control”, silvagama also progressing and maintaining their capacity in nature conservation that basically in science forestry. This thing will keep directing silvagama accordance with the vision and mission of the organization.
One of the activities in our curriculum is odyssey. Before doing an activity, a series of preparation must have been performed first to implementing members as the subjects ripe. The main purpose from the odyssey is skill training and application of management activity. Silvagama has five types of odyssey accordance with the existing divisions, like mount jungle, environment, rock climbing, caving, and rafting. Members are required to choose one of the odyssey to follow the odyssey procession, and directed to be able to follow the environment odyssey.
The last odyssey that had been done is The Odyssey of Gladian XXVI Kelelawar (Hipposideros cervinus). Beside skill improvement training, exploration material is very important in this activity. The chosen location for the odyssey is a location that never been visit yet or rarely visited. The traveler took a route to the peak of Djabolarangan at Lawu Mount, environmentalist browse all of the biodiversity on Nusakambangan Island, the climbers try to reach the highest point in 125 Citatah Cliff, caver toward the deepest Noh Cave and Lisung Cave in Tasikmalaya, and enjoy rock mainstream at Progo Atas Kandangan River.
Courage to choose a new location gives paradigm and new spirit that no difficult to reach our ambition if toil accordance with expectation. Nature adventure activity has a high risk, but it doesn’t mean we do a thing unimportant that thread our life. Conversely, from the journey and odyssey that has been traveled, we do understand to live our life and appreciate it. (643/686)
